Hi everyone,

We wanted to make a somewhat simple announcement.  It is regarding a rules addition for the forum.  It won't affect most people, but we felt it is important for the benefit of everyone.

Here we go!

The BBA forums do not support or encourage the buying or selling of characters.  This includes exchanging characters for money in order to attain their history, rank, status, design, etc, without earning the character through proper auditions.  Members who partake in the buying or selling of a character for this purpose may be subject to punishment or banning from the forum.

Why?

We don't want a "market" developing around the rights to roleplay a character - regardless of who created it.  We want to keep the forums free of charge or influence, and we want people to earn the right to their characters fair and square, through diligent role-play and their own playskill.  If we aren't careful, it could potentially turn into another "Furcadia" or even Warcraft/Everquest (which also discourage any sale of their items/characters) environment, which often lacks the heart and soul that we have here on the BBA forums.

Furthermore, this will discourage people from playing up a character and gaining status or popularity, then selling it when they choose to leave.

Of course, we will still allow anyone on the forum to commission character sheets for their characters from their favorite artists - or to purchase art etc from anyone they want!  The point is simply to prevent the sale of rank, history and status without "earning" it.

In simple terms:  Let's keep the BBA free! Anyone can get a great character with a bit of hard work - but not money! 

If you've already purchased any character for role-play on the BBA, that's fine. You'll be allowed to use it on the forum as long as you've worked out the rights to play that character with its original creator.  However, it's previous rank, history and status may not remain intact.  You can simply use the image, name and basic traits.  The moderating staff will not get involved with these transactions or their enforcement on either end (artist vs. buyer).   

But from here out, we strongly encourage original creation of new characters whenever possible - and if you must leave the forum but want your character to live on, we will beg you donate your character for play in your absence.

Bonus news for reading through all that: in the near future, Kay will be adding many more template wolves for those who have trouble creating the original art on their own but are strapped on cash!
